My Story

This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight Kids' cancer! I will be spinning again, since my bad right shoulder makes me a hazard on the road! This will be my ninth year participating in this great challenge.

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So, I am raising funds through my challenge to help these Kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund. Sadly, this is even more important this year because of the reduction in Federal research dollars. We have to help them continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

I was diagnosed with cancer last year. Nothing like what these Kids are going through, but I can identify with them more now, the fear of the unknown. My milage goal is way down this year. I had spine surgery on June 2nd. My recovery has gone very well. I started spinning on July 3rd, 10 miles per ride. I am now spinning 20 miles. I feel great.
